Find out more about Belfast’s rich and often hidden LGBT+ history on this free tour with leading professional tour guide, Richard Orr covering stories from 1903 to the Second World War to the major upsurge in commercial activity and community development from the 1960s onwards.
Stories from long gone venues such as the Chariot Rooms, the R.A. Bar, the Whip and Saddle in the Europa and the Carpenter Club has colourful stories that were often intertwined with the Troubles and we learn how the slow progress on Equality affected the lives of LGBT+ people in Belfast.
The Belfast LGBT+ History Tour will take you through the city centre to see where our history happened and hear first hand stories of what it was like when it was illegal to be gay here before 1982 as well as the milestones that got us to where we are today.
